Everyone Is Welcome!
A welcoming community gathered by Jesus to proclaim his love through acts of compassion and care for neighbors.
We are a small congregation doing good things for the community — feeding children, growing food, and serving our neighbors together. Whether you are new to the area, looking for a church home, or simply curious, there is a place for you here.

Our Mission
Wheatland Lutheran Church exists to impact and renew Buchanan and beyond with the transforming message of Jesus Christ through words and actions.
“We truly believe that we experience God’s love and grace in Christ Jesus and that makes a difference in people.”

Our Church In Action
Feeding children, growing food, and serving our community together.
The Garden of Grace
Over an acre of land growing fresh produce for 11 local food pantries, yielding over 1,100 pounds of vegetables in a single season. The garden began as a seminary class project and has grown into a thriving ministry.
Feeding Ministries
Partnering with Feeding Southwest Virginia to provide meals to children 18 and under. Since May 2020, we have served approximately 3,000 meals.
Sharing God’s Grace
A monthly community gathering with food, fellowship, and activities. All are welcome.
Tractor Treat 10/24 from 11:00 – 4:00.
Each fall, we host a community gathering celebrating agriculture, Halloween, and fellowship. What started with two tractors has grown to over seventeen, with food, hayrides, and activities for all ages.
Feeding Friends Golf Tournament
An annual event supporting both local food pantries and the Garden of Grace.
Youth Ministries
Our congregation supports youth activities through events like the Fat Tuesday Pancake Dinner and other fellowship opportunities.
Our History
Wheatland Lutheran Church was established in 1864. At one point, the church had 100 acres of land; it now claims between 12 and 15 acres. Our congregation is surrounded by farmland, and we are blessed to use some of our property to grow food for those dealing with food insecurity.
